How to Celebrate the LGBTQ+ History Month at Your Company
LGBTQ+ History Month and National Coming Out Day present incredible opportunities to launch or reinvigorate your company's commitment to supporting queer, transgender, and gender non-binary individuals. These initiatives offer a platform for your organization to honor, engage with, and uplift your LGBTQ+ employees year-round.
How your company can celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month
The following initiatives were curated by our team of social impact experts that execute thoughtful social impact efforts for our customers every day. Some of these initiatives are easy enough to accomplish internally, but for others, you will need to lean on a social impact program or team.

[1] Donations
Percent Pledge's LGBTQ+ Cause Portfolio contains five amazing, thoroughly vetted nonprofits that help take the guesswork out of choosing the right organization for your company and employees to donate to and partner with.
SAGE
Donating to SAGE means contributing to a movement of loving, caring activists who work to ensure that LGBTQ+ seniors age with respect and dignity.
National Black Justice Coalition
NBJC is on a mission to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ+ bias and stigma.
Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund
TLDEF is fighting to end discrimination and achieve equality for transgender people, particularly those in the most vulnerable communities.
PFLAG
PFLAG's mission is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ+ people who support one another. And to educate individuals and communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value, and affirm LGBTQ+ people.
The Trevor Project
The leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention, The Trevor Project services LGBTQ+ people under the age of 25.
Percent Pledge allows all companies and employees to donate to these nonprofits simultaneously through its Workplace Giving Platform.
[2] Volunteering
Time is invaluable, and volunteering your organization’s time, while inspiring your employees to do the same, is often the greatest gift you can give. It’s the perfect team-building event and can have an incredibly positive impact on your employees and your organization.
Support the most vulnerable
Volunteer with your company at The Trevor Project. Training its volunteers to become support counselors, volunteers support LGBTQ+ youth remotely–either by phone, text, or chat.
Fight against homelessness
30% of all homeless are LGBTQ+ youth. Assemble a team of employees to volunteer at the National Black Justice Coalition, where they teach its volunteers about the intersection of racial justice and equality, particularly as it relates to young people, and what they can do to help.
Strengthen inclusion
Learn how to break through the barriers and be part of creating real inclusion at work. Let PFLAG teach your organization how to Create Allies in the Workplace by providing strategies and tools for becoming a more visible and engaged ally to your LGBTQ+ colleagues.
Take the challenge
Learn how to create inclusive policies and procedures, while providing a baseline for LGBTQ+ issues and terminology. Sign your company up for the True Colors Challenge.
[3] Support comes in all shapes and sizes
Inspire your employees to get involved to spread support. No gesture is too small.
Show your pride
Encourage your team to wear “rainbow” and stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ inclusion and equity and update your social media with Pride frames or filters. Don't forget to support these "rainbow" efforts by sharing why that change was made with your employees and consumers.
Fight for LGBTQ+ rights
Get information on legislation and advocacy opportunities through The Center. Or, simply encourage your employees to call on your elected officials to protect and support LGBTQ+ youth.
Be an ally
Develop and promote a company-wide Pride Employee Network. Create a safe and inclusive workplace for all.
